Ubuntu installation

Hi,

Can i also install scatt basic on ubuntu running on a raspberry pi?
I have tried opening the appimage for linux but that does not want to open.
Then i went to terminal and did: sudo install -m 644 -t /lib/udev/rules.d/ 55-scatt.rules
That gave me back: failed to access, no such file or directory.

I have no experience with ubuntu/linux so it's all new to me but i think it must be able to run scatt software on it since it supports ubuntu...

It is not enough to run the instruction, you need the file. I made one that you can download here It is in the Linux part under Cons. You can read it for instructions with Ubuntu's text editor or cat

Now about the installation:
Feel free to use the following (the wget thing should automatically download the file):

cd /tmp/
wget https://www.scatt.com/downloads/55-scatt.rules
sudo install -m 644 -t /lib/udev/rules.d/ 55-scatt.rules

Alternatively, you just right-click the link (this link: https://www.scatt.com/downloads/55-scatt.rules)
Then pick the "save the link as" option (should be there in FireFox) and save it to your PC.
After that (from the same folder this file has been saved to) you invoke the command, which is going to copy the file where it needs to end up being.

When i give the appimage file permission (click thrust this file) and i press open nothing happens so i guess it won't work with a raspberry pi running ubuntu (20.04 with lubuntu-desktop).

It does not matter. Downloads folder would be fine. You have to run the command (included in the file as a comment) within the same directory where the file is stored. Once you run it you can delete the file

A quick update for everyone and the thread starter: it appears that the Linux software we provide is not compatible with the ARM processors more often than not. Therefore, anyone with Raspberry PI i should leave SCATT training to other, more conventional devices

We at SCATT are happy that you enjoy the Linux-port our developers created

We honestly did not have that many Lunix users requesting a standalone software solution to be developed, probably 15-20 people at best over the last couple of years. However, the devs still decided that committing to this project is the right move so that our Linux users don't feel left alone and forced to utilize Virtual Machines. Love to hear positive feedback on this one!

As a WS-1 user I'd like to have a target unit connected to controller via short cable and all connected to Raspberry Pi and then operate it from ipad via remote desktop
But it would take too much time from developers.
