So I have been trying hard to improve my prone Position and practice with the MX-02 System. What I noticed today is When I'm in the position and roll over on my gun. my NPA is just above the center of the target. When I settle I'm aiming center, but when I go back and replay the shot. The replay shows that I'm coming from below the target. What is up with that.. The system is installed just below but off to the left of the gun. Shouldn't the zone be coming from the top and not from the bottom
You need to try to develop a position where you don't roll or settle into your position. You should be able to get into position with everything relaxed and remain in that position just breathing. When reloading your position should not change. With a good position you should be able to take your trigger hand off the rifle and lift the whole arm without disturbing your position - that allows you to reload without moving your body. Put your trigger hand back on the pistol grip before you drop your elbow onto the mat - that way the elbow only supports the weight of the arm and you shouldn't roll over onto it.
With a stable position as described, move your hips left/right/backwards/forwards until your NPA when you are naturally exhaled is accurately aligned with the centre of the aiming mark. To check this, close your eyes, breathe in, breathe out naturally, 'feel' the aim, then open your eyes and see where you are aiming - it should be dead centre if the NPA is correctly aligned. Move your hips, pivoting around your fixed front elbow, until it is. The only movement should be as you breathe: when you breathe in, the foresight will drop to around 7 o'clock (right handed shooter - 5 o'clock for left hander). As you breathe out the foresight should head back into the centre and, if NPA is correctly aligned, stop with the aiming mark right in the centre of the foresight when you reach the naturally exhaled point. This natural breathing is probably why Scatt shows your aim coming in from below. Every time you breathe in, the aim goes off the target low and the trace restarts as you breathe out and your aim re-enters the aiming mark area.
