Biathlon target and old Scatt USB?

I have an old Scatt USB and borrowed a SBT-5 target. I assumed they would be compatible since the biathlon target is advertised as an accessory for the USB version. When I connect the target to the control unit it just flashes red and neither the Scatt Pro software nor the diag tool recognize the target. I noticed the firmware update tool and diag logs identify the control unit as "UTC-01" and the sensor as "OS-01" while the current manuals refer to a "WTC-01" and "OS-02".

Do I have some prehistoric version of the Scatt USB that is incompatible with the target? Is there a way to get it to work?

For as far I know the Scatt only works with 1 single target. It doesn’t work with multiple targets

As in the control box is hardwired to only work with the target it shipped with?

Since you can buy these parts separately as replacement parts that can't be it really, right?
